State Sen. Michael Crider has been a dedicated representative for the people of east-central Indiana since 2012. Serving Senate District 28, he covers Hancock County and portions of Marion and Shelby counties.

Within the Senate, Crider plays a crucial role as the Majority Whip of the Senate Republican leadership team. He also chairs the Senate Committee on Homeland Security and Transportation, acts as the ranking member of the Senate Committee on Veterans Affairs and The Military, and serves as a member of the Senate Committees on Appropriations, Health and Provider Services, Joint Rules, and Rules and Legislative Procedure. Crider’s commitment extends to national and regional committees, including the Council of State Governments Transportation and Infrastructure Public Policy Committee, the Midwestern Legislative Conference of the Council of State Governments Criminal Justice and Public Safety Committee, and the National Conference of State Legislatures Committee on Natural Resources and Infrastructure.

Before entering the Senate, Crider dedicated 30 years to public service as a conservation officer at the Indiana Department of Natural Resources (DNR). During his tenure, he held various roles, including director of the DNR Division of Law Enforcement, reaching the rank of colonel. Crider is a graduate of the Indiana Law Enforcement Academy (1981) and the FBI National Academy (2003).

Beyond the Senate, Crider actively contributed to his community, serving as a member of Neighborhoods Against Substance Abuse for two decades, seven of which he spent as president. His personal interests include fishing, hunting, golfing, and motorcycle riding.

Crider and his wife, Sherri, have made Greenfield their home, where they are actively engaged in family life with two sons and six grandchildren.
