Senator Charlie McClintock
Charlie McClintock is an American politician serving as a member of the Iowa Senate for the 42nd district. He was born and raised in Iowa and has lived in Alburnett for over 21 years. He has a Bachelor of Science in Criminal Justice Administration from University of Phoenix and an MBA in Criminal Justice from Liberty University.
Senator McClintock retired in 2009 from the Iowa Army National Guard as a Warrant Officer after serving 21 years. He currently serves as the 911 Manager for the Cedar Rapids Police Department, where he began as a police officer in 1994. He has served as a city councilman and mayor of Alburnett.
Before running for Iowa Senate, he was elected to the Iowa House representing District 95 in 2020. He assumed that office on January 11, 2021. In November of 2022, he was elected to the state senate and assumed that position on January 9, 2023.
In addition to his political career, Senator McClintock has had a significant career in law enforcement. He began his law enforcement career in 1990 as a Deputy Sheriff for Van Buren County before joining the Cedar Rapids Police Department as an officer. In 1998, McClintock moved to the Joint Communications Agency for the City of Cedar Rapids. In 2004 he became the manager of the JCA, and currently serves in that position.
He also serves as vice chair of the House Justice System Appropriations Subcommittee. In 2023, McClintock became an early primary endorser of Donald Trump’s 2024 presidential campaign.
