Craig Paul Johnson was born on September 16, 1963, in Independence, Iowa. He is an American politician currently serving as the representative of the 67th District in the Iowa House of Representatives. He assumed office on January 1, 2023. His current term ends on January 1, 2025.

Before his current role, he was elected as a Republican member of the Iowa State Senate’s 32nd district in 2016. He defeated the Democratic incumbent Brian Schoenjahn. He had also run for election to the Iowa House of Representatives in 2014 for the 64th district.

Johnson was born and raised in Independence, Iowa. He is a financial planner and former sales and engineer manager. He graduated from Independence Jefferson Senior High School. He earned a B.A. from the University of Northern Iowa in 1986.

Johnson’s career experience includes working as a business development/project manager with Larson Construction Company, the executive director of the Heartland Acres Agribition Center, and an investment representative with Investment Center Inc.

Johnson has been affiliated with the Iowa Soybean Association, the Iowa Corn Growers Association, and the Independence Area Dollars for Scholars Investment Review Committee.

As of February 2020, Johnson serves on the following committees: State Government (Vice Chair), Appropriations, Commerce, Education, and Human Resources. He also serves on the Transportation, Infrastructure, and Capitals Appropriations Subcommittee (Chair), as well as the Capital Projects Committee, State Government Efficiency Review Committee, and the Capitol Planning Commission.
