Representative Jerome Amos
Jerome Amos Jr. is a member of the Democratic Party and represents District 62 in the Iowa House of Representatives. He assumed office on January 1, 2023, and his current term ends on January 1, 2025. He ran for election to the Iowa House of Representatives to represent District 62 and won in the general election on November 8, 2022.
Before his political career, Jerome Amos Jr. had a diverse professional background. He worked as an adjunct instructor with Hawkeye Community College and a machinist with John Deere. He also served on the city council of Waterloo, Iowa.
Jerome Amos Jr. has been a 4th Ward resident for the majority of his 60+ years. He graduated from Waterloo East in 1972 and attended Upper Iowa University in Fayette, Iowa. He then went to work for Waterloo Industries and later John Deere Tractor Works, where he retired with 36 years of service credit.
In addition to his professional and political careers, Jerome Amos Jr. is an active volunteer. He has served the Waterloo community as a member of various boards and commissions, including the Iowa Workforce Development Board, Iowa Energy Sector Partnership, UAW Local 838 Civil and Human Rights Committee, Waterloo Commission on Human Rights, Blackhawk County Sanitation Allocation, and Citizens Advisory Council.
Currently, Jerome Amos Jr. works as an Adjunct Instructor in Computer Numerical Control (CNC) at Hawkeye Community College. He enjoys spending his time with family. He is married to Tina Harmon-Amos and between them, they have 7 adult children.
