Nelson Joel Fry, born on June 18, 1974, is a prominent figure in the Iowa State Legislature. He represents the 24th District as a member of the Republican Party and has been serving in the Iowa House of Representatives since 2011.

Born and raised in Des Moines, Iowa, Fry currently resides in Osceola. He holds a Bachelor of Arts degree from Simpson College and a Master of Social Work degree, along with an Aging Studies Certificate, from the University of Iowa School of Social Work.

In addition to his political career, Fry has a diverse professional background. He has worked as a therapist, educator, consultant, and speaker. He has also served as a lecturer at Simpson College and as an adjunct faculty member at the University of Iowa School of Social Work.

Fry is the president of TEAM Restoration Ministries based in Osceola. He has also served as the co-chair of the Hospice and Palliative Care Association of Iowa’s Education Committee and Social Work Peer Group, on the National Peer Grant Review Committee with the American Cancer Society, and as the board chair of the Hospice and Palliative Care Association of Iowa.

In the Iowa House of Representatives, Fry has been an active member of several committees. As of January 2013, he serves on the Administration and Rules, Education, Human Resources, Labor, and Public Safety committees. He also holds the position of an Assistant Leader for the House Republican caucus.

Fry is a strong advocate for the rights of adoptive parents and is the adoptive parent of five children. His dedication to public service and his commitment to his constituents have made him a respected figure in the Iowa State Legislature.
