Mark Lofgren, born on June 26, 1961, is a member of the Iowa Senate, representing the 48th district since January 3, 2023. His current term is set to conclude on January 2, 2025.

Mark Lofgren (born June 26, 1961) is a member of the Iowa Senate, representing the 48th district. He was elected in 2016, defeating incumbent Democratic Senator Chris Brase. He previously served as a member of the Iowa House of Representatives from 2011-2015 before giving up his seat for an unsuccessful bid for the Republican candidate for the Iowa’s 2nd congressional district.

Lofgren earned his B.B.A in Finance from the University of Iowa. His professional experience includes owning and operating Lofgren Investments and a real estate business. He is currently a real estate associate with Exit Realty Group in Muscatine, where he specializes in both residential and commercial real estate. He is a certified negotiation expert, and has earned Chartered Financial Consultant, Certified Residential Specialist, Graduate of Real Estate Institute, and Accredited Commercial Professional designations.

He served two terms in the Iowa House before being elected to the Iowa Senate in 2016. Senator Lofgren is a lifelong resident of Iowa. He has been married to his wife, Paula, for over 30 years. They have four children: Emily, Olivia, Maggie, and Markus, and three granddaughters and one grandson. Senator Lofgren is a former track, basketball, and soccer coach for the Muscatine Community Y and Youth Sports Foundation. He also is an avid runner in his free time.

In his political career, Lofgren has held several important positions. He served as a member of the Iowa House of Representatives from the 91st district from January 10, 2011 – January 11, 2015. He then assumed office as a member of the Iowa Senate from the 48th district on January 3, 2023. His current term ends on January 2, 2025. Prior to this, he represented District 46. He won the general election on November 3, 2020.

In addition to his legislative duties, Senator Lofgren has been assigned to several committees. For the 2023-2024 term, he was assigned to the Senate Appropriations Committee, Senate Local Government Committee (Vice Chair), Rules and Administration Committee, Senate Transportation Committee, and Senate Veterans Affairs Committee.
