Representative Matt Windschitl Contact information

Matt W. Windschitl was born on December 30, 1983, in Marshalltown, Iowa. He studied gunsmithing at the Colorado School of Trades. Windschitl is a member of the Republican Party and has been serving in the Iowa House of Representatives since 2007.

Before his political career, Windschitl worked in various roles including a conductor for the Union Pacific Railroad, a gunsmith, and for Doll Distributing in Council Bluffs, Iowa. He also served in the United States Marine Corps Reserve from 2001 to 2009, including a six-month tour in Iraq.

In the Iowa House of Representatives, Windschitl first represented the 17th District. He defeated the incumbent Republican Paul Wilderdyke in a primary election to win his seat. Currently, he is serving as a representative from the 15th District and holds the position of Majority Leader of the Iowa House. He assumed this office on January 1, 2023.
