Michael Bergan is a member of the Iowa House of Representatives, representing District 63. He assumed office on January 1, 2023, and his current term ends on January 1, 2025. He ran for re-election to the Iowa House of Representatives to represent District 63 and won in the general election on November 8, 2022.

Michael Bergan was born in Decorah, Iowa. He graduated from Decorah High School and earned bachelor’s degrees in accounting and economics from Luther College. His career experience includes working as a tax accountant, an income tax preparer and office accountant with the Miller Law Firm, and the director of HAWC Partnerships for Children.

He has served on the Winneshiek County Board of Supervisors, the Mental Health and Developmental Disabilities Commission, the Iowa Early ACCESS Council, and the Iowa State Empowerment Board.

In the 2023-2024 legislative session, Bergan was assigned to the following committees: House Appropriations Committee, House Human Resources Committee, Labor Committee, and House State Government Committee. In the 2021-2022 legislative session, Bergan was assigned to the following committees: Economic Growth Committee, House Human Resources Committee, Labor Committee, and House Ways and Means Committee. In the 2019-2020 legislative session, Bergan was assigned to the following committees: House Human Resources Committee, House Judiciary Committee, and House State Government Committee.

In the general election for Iowa House of Representatives District 63, Michael Bergan defeated Tim Lecander and received 61.4% of the votes, which amounted to 8,613 votes.
