Representative Mike Sexton
Mike Sexton, born on August 22, 1961, in Fort Dodge, Iowa, is an American politician serving in the state of Iowa. He has been a Republican representative for District 10 in the Iowa House of Representatives since 2015. He currently represents House District 7.
Sexton attended Iowa Lakes Community College, where he earned an A.A.S. in agricultural science in 1982. After his education, he embarked on a career that includes owning Twin Lakes Environmental Services and Real Time Ag, and working as a farmer.
Before his current tenure, Sexton also served in the Iowa State Senate from 1999 to 2003, representing the 7th district. In addition to his political career, Sexton has served on the South Central Calhoun School Board, the First Presbyterian Church Board, and the Calhoun County Farm Bureau Board.
In the Iowa House of Representatives, Sexton has held various roles including majority whip and assistant majority leader. He has been assigned to several committees over the years, including the House Agriculture Committee, House State Government Committee, House Ways and Means Committee, and others.
Sexton represents House District 7, which includes Calhoun, Pocahontas, and Sac counties plus western Webster County. He assumed office for this district on January 1, 2023. His current term ends on January 1, 2025.
Outside of his political career, Sexton is a farmer and small business owner. He and his wife, Becky, have five children and 13 grandchildren.
