Senator Scott Webster

Scott Webster is an American politician serving as a member of the Iowa Senate from the 47th district. He assumed office on January 9, 2023, succeeding Roby Smith. He is a member of the Republican Party and resides in Bettendorf, Iowa.

Webster’s political career began when he was elected representative of the fifth ward of Bettendorf, Iowa’s city council in a 2014 special election. During his tenure on the city council, he was appointed to the Iowa League of Cities Legislative Policy Committee in January 2019.

In 2018, Webster made an unsuccessful bid for a position on the Scott County board of supervisors. However, his political aspirations did not end there. In February 2022, he began campaigning to represent District 47 in the Iowa Senate. He faced Barry Long in the Republican Party primary and emerged victorious. In the general election, he defeated Democratic candidate Mary Kathleen Figaro.

In the 2024 Republican Party presidential primaries, Webster initially endorsed Florida Governor Ron DeSantis before switching his endorsement to businessman Vivek Ramaswamy.

Apart from his political career, Webster is also a successful business owner. He owns Premier Customs Homes, Webster Properties, and Quad City Disposal. He has also served as the president of Home Builders of Iowa and an alderman with the City of Bettendorf, Iowa.

Webster graduated from Bettendorf High School in 1998. His career experience includes owning Webster Properties LLC and Premier Custom Homes LLC. He served as the president of Home Builders of Iowa and an alderman with the City of Bettendorf, Iowa.
