Representative Steven Holt
Steven Holt, born on January 28, 1958, is a member of the Republican Party and is currently serving as a State Representative in the Iowa House of Representatives, representing District 12. He assumed office on January 1, 2023, and his current term ends on January 1, 2025.
Before his political career, Steven Holt served in the U.S. Marine Corps for 20 years and reached the rank of first sergeant. His career experience includes owning Movie Magic USA and working as a deputy sheriff and police chief. He has also served on the board of the local Music Boosters.
In the 2023-2024 legislative session, Holt was assigned to the following committees: House Appropriations Committee, House Education Committee, House Government Oversight Committee, House Judiciary Committee (Chair), and Public Safety Committee. In the previous legislative sessions, he served on various other committees including the House Judiciary Committee (Chair), House Ways and Means Committee, Human Resources, Labor, Public Safety, and Veterans Affairs (Chair).
Steven Holt ran for re-election to the Iowa House of Representatives to represent District 12 and won in the general election on November 8, 2022. He received 98.0% of the votes, totaling 8,495 votes.
