Tracy Ehlert is an American politician and a member of the Democratic Party. She represents the 79th district in the Iowa House of Representatives. She assumed office on January 1, 2023. Her current term ends on January 1, 2025.

Tracy Ehlert is an American politician and a member of the Democratic Party. She represents the 79th district in the Iowa House of Representatives.

Ehlert was born in San Bernardino, California. She earned an associate degree in information systems management from Kirkwood Community College in 2007, an associate degree in early childhood education from Marshalltown Community College in 2012, a bachelor’s degree in early childhood education from Ashford University in 2015, and a master’s degree in early childhood education from Walden University in 2017.

Her career experience includes owning B2K Learning Center and working as a student support staff-interventionist with the Cedar Rapids Community School District, a level 3 instructor with Child Care Resource & Referral, and a continuing education instructor with Kirkwood Community College. She has been affiliated with The National Association for Family Child Care, the National TEACH Early Childhood Alliance Council, and the Iowa Early Childhood Workforce Advisory Committee.

In 2017, Ehlert announced she was running to represent District 70 in the Iowa House of Representatives, after former representative Todd Taylor decided to run for a seat in the State Senate. She was unopposed in the Democratic primary, and went on to win the general election. She ran for re-election to the Iowa House of Representatives to represent District 79 and won in the general election on November 8, 2022.

She assumed office on January 1, 2023. Her current term ends on January 1, 2025. During her tenure, Ehlert has been assigned to various committees including the House Agriculture Committee, House Appropriations Committee, House Education Committee, and Labor Committee.
