Jerry Stogsdill was born on June 15, 1947. He is an American politician who has been serving as a Democratic member for the 21st district in the Kansas House of Representatives since 2017.

Stogsdill was born and lives in Prairie Village, Kansas. He served as an officer in the U.S. Navy. He earned a Ph.D. in educational administration, a master’s degree in curriculum and instruction, and a bachelor’s degree in education from Kansas State University.

Stogsdill’s professional experience includes owning and operating JDB Investments and Jerry Stogsdill Fine Arts and Photograph & Digital Imaging. He also served as president of Silicon Prairie Technology Association/Scientific Education Partnerships.

He is a member of the Board of Directors of the Inter Urban Art House, a member of the Board of Trustees for the Center for Research Incorporated, and a member of the executive board of the Shawnee Mission East Parent Teacher Association.

Stogsdill was elected to the Kansas State House of Representatives in 2016. He ran for re-election to the Kansas House of Representatives to represent District 21 and won in the general election on November 8, 2022. His current term ends on January 13, 2025.

During his tenure, Stogsdill has sponsored several bills, including HB2162 - Providing for sales tax exemption for hygiene products, HB2341 - Declaring Juneteenth National Independence Day to be a legal public holiday and closing state offices for certain legal public holidays, and HB2348 - Restoring local government control over wages, compensation and benefits for construction projects, among others.

Stogsdill has been assigned to various committees, including the Calendar and Printing Committee, House Education Committee, Legislative Modernization, Taxation Committee, and Water Committee.
