Kristen Brunkow O’Shea was born on July 10, 1992. She is an American politician and a member of the Republican Party. She represents the 18th district in the Kansas Senate. Her district is anchored in northern Topeka and also includes the cities of Silver Lake, Rossvile, St. Marys, and Wamego.

O’Shea assumed office on January 11, 2021. Her current term ends on January 13, 2025. She ran for election to the Kansas State Senate to represent District 18 and won in the general election on November 3, 2020.

Before her political career, O’Shea earned a master’s degree in education. She has had a diverse career experience which includes working as the executive director of the quality of life division for the Greater Topeka Chamber of Commerce and owning a business. She also served as the vice president of Shawnee County Parks and Recreation.

In her tenure as a senator, O’Shea has been assigned to several committees. For the years 2023-2024, she was assigned to the Commerce Committee, Senate Education Committee, Public Health and Welfare Committee, Child Welfare System Oversight, and Corrections and Juvenile Justice Oversight Committee.

O’Shea’s victory in the general election for Kansas State Senate District 18 was decisive. She defeated Tobias Schlingensiepen with 59.2% of the votes, a total of 19,396 votes.
