Patricia D. Pettey, known as Pat Pettey, was born on November 28, 1946, in Junction City, Kansas, U.S. She is a member of the Democratic Party and has been serving as a member of the Kansas Senate, representing the 6th district since January 14, 2013.

Before her tenure in the Senate, she served as a member of the Kansas House of Representatives from the 31st district from January 11, 1993, to January 13, 1997. She succeeded Bill Wisdom and was succeeded by Bonnie Sharp in this role.

Pat Pettey’s educational background includes a Bachelor of Science and a Master’s degree in Education from the University of Kansas. Her career experience includes working as an educator with Turner High School District 202. She has also been a chairperson of the Homeless Continuum of Care and the Mayors Council Against Domestic Violence.

In addition to her main role, she has served on several committees throughout her political career. These include the Confirmation Oversight Committee, Senate Education Committee, Public Health and Welfare Committee, Ways and Means Committee, Pensions, Investments and Benefits Committee, Legislative Budget Committee, and the Robert G. (Bob) Bethell Joint Committee on Home and Community Based Services and KanCare Oversight.
