Senator Aaron Reed

Aaron Charles Reed, born on July 20, 1977, is an American politician and a Republican member of the Kentucky State Senate. He represents the 7th district, which includes Anderson, Shelby, Spencer Counties, and part of Jefferson. Reed’s journey to the Senate is marked by a diverse and accomplished career.

Before entering politics, Reed served as a United States Navy SEAL, where he dedicated over 22 years of his life. His military service earned him the rank of Senior Chief, and he was actively involved with organizations such as the Navy SEAL Foundation, UDT SEAL Association, and the Navy SEAL Legacy Foundation. Reed’s commitment to service extended beyond the military, as he also achieved the rank of Eagle Scout.

Reed pursued higher education at Morehead State University, where he earned a Bachelor of Arts degree in Sociology and Criminology. His academic background, combined with his military experience, provided him with a unique perspective on leadership and public service.

In May 2024, Reed entered the political arena by running in the Republican primary election for the 7th district of the Kentucky Senate. He successfully defeated Ed Gallrein and Adrienne Southworth, securing his place as the Republican candidate. In the general election held in November 2024, Reed emerged victorious against Rhonda Davis, winning 68 percent of the votes. He assumed office on January 1, 2025, succeeding Adrienne Southworth.

As a small business owner, Reed brings a practical understanding of the challenges faced by entrepreneurs and local businesses. He owns Kodiak Koating and Ops Supply, which further demonstrates his commitment to supporting the local economy.

Reed’s tenure in the Kentucky State Senate is characterized by his dedication to his constituents and his efforts to address their needs.
