Representative Matt Lockett
Matt Lockett, born on June 8, 1974, is an American politician from Kentucky. He is a member of the Republican Party and currently represents the 39th District in the State House. It is believed that he is the first Republican to ever hold this seat in the legislature.
Before being elected to office, Lockett served as chair of the Jessamine County Republican Party and worked as a financial services professional. He had previously tried to run for the 39th district in 2012, losing in the general election to Democrat Bob Dameron.
Lockett has served as State Representative of the 39th House District since 2021. He has advocated for the people of the district by supporting and voting for pro-life, pro-2nd Amendment, pro-business and pro-family legislation. Matt has had a hand in expanding school choice, reducing income taxes and promoting liberty and freedom.
During the pandemic, Matt stood with families and promoted medical freedom and individual choice. He stood with parents and school districts when the Governor wanted to mandate masks in all schools. At every turn, he has been on your side, fighting for you and your family values.
Lockett, who lives in Jessamine County, is currently a financial advisor at Family Wealth Group. He works to help people and businesses manage their money to strengthen their financial foundations so families and companies can have brighter futures with more opportunities.
Before returning to the private sector in 2017, he led the Kentucky Department of Insurance’s Health and Life / Property and Casualty Divisions. As division director, Lockett helped educate, inform and protect the public regarding insurance in Kentucky.
Lockett is an ambassador with the National Alzheimer’s Association, where he volunteers to bring awareness and to find a cure for Alzheimer’s disease. He is also an Honorable Kentucky Colonel and a member of the Jessamine County Chamber of Commerce. Lockett resides in Jessamine County with his two children, one in high school and one in college.
