About Representative Peyton Griffee
Peyton Griffee, born on June 28, 1996, in Mount Washington, Kentucky, is a dedicated American politician and attorney. He currently serves as a Republican member of the Kentucky House of Representatives, representing the 26th House District, which includes parts of Bullitt and Hardin counties. Griffee assumed office on March 25, 2024, following the resignation of incumbent representative Russell Webber. He was elected unopposed in a special election held in March 2024 and is running unopposed for the seat in the 2024 Kentucky House of Representatives election.
Griffee’s educational journey began in Bullitt County, where he graduated from the Christian Academy of Louisville in 2014. He then pursued higher education at Georgetown College, earning a Bachelor of Arts in political science and government, as well as American studies, in 2018. During his time at Georgetown, Griffee was an active member of Lambda Chi Alpha, the student government association, Alpha Lambda Delta Honor Society, and Omicron Delta Kappa Honor Society. He continued his academic pursuits at the University of Louisville Louis D. Brandeis School of Law, where he earned his Juris Doctor in 2021. While in law school, Griffee was a member of the Federalist Society, moot court competition team, and a fellow of the Ordered Liberty program. He also clerked for Kentucky Attorney General Daniel Cameron during this period.
Following his graduation from law school, Griffee worked as an assistant county attorney in Hardin County for a year before opening his own private practice in Shepherdsville, Kentucky. In addition to his legal career, Griffee serves as a captain in the United States Army Reserve, currently working as a Judge Advocate with the 244th Expeditionary Combat Aviation Brigade.
Griffee’s political career began during his time at Georgetown College, where he was elected Vice President of Academic Affairs for the Student Government Association. He also served as president of the Georgetown College Republicans and Public Relations Chair for the State of Kentucky College Republicans. While in law school, Griffee was elected as a class representative to the Student Bar Association and founded the Salt River Area Young Republicans, an organization he continues to chair today. He also serves as vice-chair of the Kentucky Young Republican Federation.
Throughout his career, Griffee has been actively involved in various committees and organizations. He is a member of the House Session Standing Committee on Economic Development & Workforce Investment, Local Government, State Government, and Judiciary. He also participates in several Senate Session Standing Committees, including the Interim Joint Committee on Economic Development & Workforce Investment, Judiciary, and Transportation. Additionally, Griffee is a member of several statutory and special committees, such as the New Member Caucus, Pro-Life Caucus, Bourbon Trail Caucus, Equine Caucus, Kentucky Rural Electric Cooperatives Caucus, Kentucky-Israel Caucus, Kentucky Sportsmen’s Caucus, and Kentucky History Caucus.
