Representative Rashid Young
Rashid Armand Young is an American politician currently serving as a member of the Louisiana House of Representatives from the 11th district. He represents Bienville Parish, Claiborne Parish, and Lincoln Parish. He assumed office on January 8, 2024.
Born and raised in Homer, Louisiana, Young pursued his higher education at Arkansas Baptist College, where he earned a Bachelor of Science degree. He furthered his studies at Southern University Law Center, earning a Juris Doctor degree.
Before his political career, Young was a business owner and worked as the Chief Operating Officer of Lincoln Preparatory School in Grambling, Louisiana. He also has experience as a teacher and a lawyer.
Young’s political journey began when he ran for the 11th district seat in the Louisiana House of Representatives in 2023. He won the election unopposed and assumed office on January 8, 2024. His current term is set to end on January 10, 2028.
Throughout his political career, Young has been a member of the Democratic Party. He succeeded Patrick Jefferson to represent the 11th district in the Louisiana House of Representatives.
