About Representative Robby Carter
Robby Carter, born on October 20, 1960, is an American politician who has made significant contributions to the Louisiana House of Representatives. He has served in the Louisiana House of Representatives from the 72nd district since 2016 and previously from 1996 to 2008.
Carter was born and raised in Greensburg, Louisiana. He is a member of the Democratic Party. He assumed office on January 11, 2016, and his current term ends on January 10, 2028. Carter won re-election to the Louisiana House of Representatives to represent District 72 outright in the primary on October 14, 2023, after the general election was canceled.
Before his political career, Carter earned a Bachelor of Arts from Southeastern Louisiana University and a law degree from Louisiana State University. His career experience includes working as an attorney. As of April 2020, Carter lived in Amite, Louisiana.
In addition to his political career, Carter has been a floor leader for two governors and is currently the Dean of the Louisiana House of Representatives and Chairman of the Committee of the Whole. He has also served on several committees, including the Civil Law and Procedure Committee, Health and Welfare Committee, and Judiciary Committee.
