Rodney S. Lyons Sr., born in December 1962, is a Democratic member of the Louisiana House of Representatives for District 87 in Jefferson Parish in suburban New Orleans, Louisiana. He assumed office in January 2016, succeeding Democrat Ebony Woodruff, whom he unseated in the primary election held on October 24, 2015.

Rodney S. Lyons Sr., born in December 1962, is a Democratic member of the Louisiana House of Representatives for District 87 in Jefferson Parish in suburban New Orleans, Louisiana. He assumed office in January 2016, succeeding Democrat Ebony Woodruff, whom he unseated in the primary election held on October 24, 2015.

Lyons is a retired Superintendent with the Jefferson Parish Streets Department and a Director of a Business Consulting Company. He has also worked as a Realtor. Before his political career, he coached high school and youth league basketball. He is a former president of the Woodmere Civic Association, an organization of homeowners in the largest subdivision in Louisiana. Lyons describes himself as “a quick study” who has “the pulse of the community at my fingertips.”

In addition to his political career, Lyons has served in various roles in the community. His district office is located at 5201 Westbank Expressway Suite 114, Marrero, LA 70072. He is assisted by his Legislative Assistant, Lois Jessie. He represents Jefferson Parish and corresponds with Senate Districts 5, 7, and 8.

Lyons was elected in 2015 and is eligible to serve through the 2024 term. He is a member of the House and Governmental Affairs, where he serves as Vice Chair. He is also a member of the Appropriations and Municipal, Parochial, and Cultural Affairs committees. He is part of the Joint Legislative Committee on the Budget.

He is a member of several caucuses and delegations, including the Democratic Caucus, Jefferson Parish Legislative Delegation, and the Louisiana Legislative Black Caucus.
