Senator Thomas Pressly

Thomas Pressly is an American attorney and politician who is currently serving as a member of the Louisiana Senate from the 38th district. He assumed office on January 8, 2024. Prior to this, he represented the 6th district in the Louisiana House of Representatives from January 13, 2020, to January 8, 2024.

Born and raised in Louisiana, Pressly graduated from C. E. Byrd High School in 2005. He then pursued higher education at Texas Christian University, where he graduated cum laude and served as president of the student body. He earned a Bachelor of Science degree from Texas Christian University in 2009. Following this, he attended the Loyola University New Orleans College of Law, earning a Juris Doctor in 2013.

In 2013 and 2014, Pressly served as a law clerk for S. Maurice Hicks Jr. He has since worked as a civil litigation attorney. His political career began when he was elected to the Louisiana House of Representatives in November 2019. He assumed office on January 13, 2020.

During his tenure in the Louisiana House of Representatives, Pressly served on the House Commerce, Health & Welfare, and Judiciary Committees. He was also a founding member of the STEM Innovation Caucus, Co-Chair of the Future Caucus, and Co-Chair of the North Louisiana Delegation.

In 2023, Pressly won the election to the Louisiana State Senate to represent District 38 outright in the primary on October 14, 2023, after the general election was canceled. His current term ends on January 10, 2028.

Pressly’s professional experience includes working as an attorney. He has been recognized for his contributions and was awarded the Young Professional of the Year in 2023.
