Representative Gary Friedmann

Gary Friedmann is a dedicated public servant and community leader who currently represents District 14 in the Maine House of Representatives. He assumed office on December 3, 2024, and his term will end on December 1, 2026. Friedmann is a member of the Democratic Party and has a strong commitment to serving his constituents in Bar Harbor, Cranberry Isles, Lamoine, and Mount Desert.

Before his tenure in the Maine House of Representatives, Friedmann served on the Bar Harbor Town Council since 2015. During his time on the council, he played a significant role in local and statewide climate initiatives. He co-founded several organizations, including A Climate to Thrive, Maine Climate Action NOW, and Our Power. These organizations focus on promoting sustainable practices and advocating for clean energy solutions.

Friedmann’s passion for environmental issues extends beyond his work with these organizations. He has also served as president of Maine Citizens for Clean Elections and as treasurer for Friends of Baxter State Park. Through his small business, Friedmann has assisted hundreds of nonprofit organizations across Maine with strategic planning and leadership development to enhance their capacity and strengthen their communities.

In addition to his environmental advocacy, Friedmann is committed to preserving the quality of life in coastal Maine. He is passionate about developing a clean and equitable energy future and looks forward to bringing his experience and knowledge to help advocate not only for his community but for all of Maine.

Friedmann holds a Bachelor of Arts degree, which he earned in 1978. He is married to Glenon J. Friedmann, and together they have two children and two grandchildren. His dedication to his family and community is evident in his work and his commitment to making Maine a better place for future generations.

Throughout his career, Friedmann has demonstrated a strong commitment to public service and environmental stewardship. His work in the Maine House of Representatives and his involvement in various organizations reflect his dedication to creating a sustainable and equitable future for all Mainers.
