Kristen Cloutier is an American politician from Lewiston, Maine. She is a member of the Democratic Party and currently represents District 94 in the Maine House of Representatives. She assumed office on December 7, 2022, and her current term ends on December 4, 2024.

Kristen Cloutier is an American politician from Lewiston, Maine. She is a member of the Democratic Party and currently represents District 94 in the Maine House of Representatives. She assumed office on December 7, 2022, and her current term ends on December 4, 2024.

Before her current role, she served as a state representative from the 60th district from 2018 to 2022. On November 6, 2018, Cloutier was elected to the Maine House of Representatives representing part of Lewiston, succeeding Jared Golden, who was elected to Congress.

In addition to her state representative roles, Cloutier has also held positions in the Lewiston City Council. She was elected to the Lewiston City Council from Ward 5 in 2013 and became City Council President following the 2015 elections. After incumbent mayor Shane Bouchard resigned on March 8, 2019, Cloutier became mayor of Lewiston, serving until January 6, 2020, when Mark Cayer, the winner of the 2019 mayoral election, was sworn in.

On the educational front, Cloutier earned a bachelor’s degree in journalism from Northeastern University in 1997 and a master’s degree in leadership studies from the University of Southern Maine in 2009. Her career experience includes working as an assistant director for center operations and program coordinator for Project Pericles with Bates College.

Throughout her political career, Cloutier has been assigned to various committees. In the 2023-2024 term, she was assigned to the Elections Committee as Chair. In the 2021-2022 term, she was assigned to the Appropriations and Financial Affairs Committee, and in the 2019-2020 term, she was assigned to the Taxation Committee. She has also sponsored several bills, including “An Act to Improve Economic Security for Maine Children by Amending the Maine Dependent Exemption Tax Credit” and “Resolve, to Establish a Pilot Project to Improve Access to Credit for Low-income Individuals”.
