Her career spans over 30 years in research and marketing in the high-tech and consumer goods industries. She has also owned a retail store focused on creativity, STEM education, and showcasing the work of many Maine makers. Gere is deeply committed to education, sustainable economic development, and community-building.

In her legislative role, she serves as House chair of the Joint Select Committee on Housing and is a member of the Joint Standing Committee on Labor and Housing. These committees handle a variety of important issues, including labor laws, working conditions, unemployment compensation, workers’ compensation, labor relations, collective bargaining, retirement eligibility and benefits for state and municipal employees, housing authority, landlord-tenant laws, affordable housing, homelessness, housing safety, and building codes.
