Andre Johnson, a member of the Democratic Party, is currently serving in the Maryland House of Delegates, representing District 34A. He assumed office on January 11, 2023, and his current term is set to end on January 13, 2027.

Born on June 19, 1971, in Aberdeen Proving Grounds, Maryland, Andre Johnson grew up in Edgewood, Maryland, where he graduated from Edgewood High School. After high school, he served in the U.S. Army as an armored crewman and was deployed in Iraq. He retired from the Army in 2015 as a staff sergeant.

In addition to his military service, Johnson has had a diverse career. He worked as a special investigator for the Baltimore City Department of Housing and Community Development, and as a police officer for the Baltimore City Police Department, Eastern District, and the Harford County sheriff’s office.

Johnson has also been involved in local politics. He served as a member of the Harford County Democratic Central Committee and chair of the Police and Community Relations Committee of Voices of Racial Change.

In the 2022 elections, Johnson ran for election to the Maryland House of Delegates to represent District 34A. He won in the general election on November 8, 2022. Prior to this, he served as a member of the Harford County Council, District A from December 4, 2018, to December 6, 2022.

As a legislator, Johnson has been assigned to the Economic Matters Committee and the Joint Committee on Federal Relations. He is the first African American to represent Harford County in the Maryland General Assembly.
