Representative Darrell Odom

Darrell Odom is a member of the Democratic Party and currently serves in the Maryland House of Delegates, representing District 27A. He assumed office on January 13, 2026, and his current term will conclude on January 13, 2027.

Darrell C. Odom Sr. was born in 1954 or 1955 and is an American politician, firefighter, and military veteran. He was appointed to the Maryland House of Delegates by Governor Wes Moore on January 12, 2026, to fill the vacancy left by Delegate Kevin M. Harris. District 27A includes portions of Charles and Prince George’s Counties, and Odom represents the district alongside other members of the Maryland General Assembly. His appointment reflects a career of public service that spans firefighting, military service, and community leadership.

Odom attended Prince George’s Community College, where he earned an associate degree in general studies, and later completed a bachelor’s degree in fire science and management from the University of Maryland Global Campus. He also graduated from the National Defense University’s Keystone Command Senior Enlisted Leader Course, furthering his leadership training. His professional career began with the Prince George’s County Fire/EMS Department, where he served from 1980 until 2004, retiring as Acting Chief. In addition to his firefighting career, Odom served in both the United States Army and the United States Coast Guard, experiences that shaped his perspective on service, discipline, and leadership.

In the Maryland House of Delegates, Odom is a member of the Environment and Transportation Committee, where he contributes to legislative discussions on infrastructure, environmental policy, and transportation systems. He is also a member of the Maryland Legislative Black Caucus, underscoring his commitment to advancing representation and addressing issues affecting African American communities across the state. His prior political involvement includes serving on the Prince George’s County Democratic Central Committee from 2019 to 2026, which provided him with experience in party leadership and grassroots organizing.
