Gary Simmons, born on July 25, 1971, in Savannah, Georgia, is a member of the Maryland House of Delegates, representing District 12B. He is affiliated with the Democratic Party and assumed office on January 11, 2023.

Gary Simmons is a member of the Maryland House of Delegates, representing District 12B. He is a member of the Democratic Party. He assumed office on January 11, 2023.

Simmons was born on July 25, 1971, in Savannah, Georgia. He attended Copiague High School in Copiague, New York. He later attended Tuskegee University, where he earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Criminal Justice and Political Science in 1994.

Before becoming a state delegate, Simmons worked as a manager at the U.S. Government Printing Office from 2006 to 2016. He also served as a staff assistant in the Special Education Department of Anne Arundel County Public Schools from 2018 to 2022. Additionally, he was a member of the Operations Team for the Anne Arundel County and Annapolis Community Emergency Response Team starting in 2015.

In 2022, Simmons ran for the Maryland House of Delegates in District 31, which was later redrawn into the newly created District 12B. He sought to succeed outgoing state delegate Ned Carey. He won the Democratic primary on July 19, 2022, and defeated Republican challenger Ashley Arias in the general election on November 8, 2022.

As a delegate, Simmons serves on the Judiciary Committee, where he is a member of the Criminal Law & Procedure Subcommittee and the Family & Juvenile Law Subcommittee. He is also a member of the Legislative Black Caucus of Maryland and the Maryland Legislative Latino Caucus.

Simmons continues to serve his constituents with dedication and commitment, striving to make a positive impact in his community and the state of Maryland.
