Representative Jay Jacobs
Jay A. Jacobs was born on January 28, 1953, in West Palm Beach, Florida. He graduated from Kent County High School and has owned his own business, Jay A. Jacobs Complete Kitchens and Baths LLC, since 1986.
Before his political career, Jacobs served as the mayor of Rock Hall, Maryland, from 1999 to 2011. In July 2009, Jacobs announced that he would run for the Maryland House of Delegates in District 36, seeking to succeed retiring state delegate Mary Roe Walkup. He ran unopposed in the Republican primary election, and defeated Democratic nominee Arthur Hock in the general election in November 2010.
Jacobs has been a member of the Maryland House of Delegates since January 12, 2011. He represents District 36, which includes Kent, Queen Anne’s, Cecil, and Caroline counties. He is a member of the Environment and Transportation Committee, and has served on several subcommittees related to agriculture, natural resources, and transportation.
In addition to his legislative duties, Jacobs has been involved in various community and professional organizations. He has served as a firefighter and ambulance driver for the Rock Hall Volunteer Fire Company, and has been a member and administrative officer of the Kent County Community Marching Band since 1993. He has also served on several local and regional councils and committees, including the Upper Shore Regional Council, the Mid-Shore Regional Council, and the Nutrient Management Advisory Committee.
Jacobs ran for re-election to the Maryland House of Delegates to represent District 36 and won in the general election on November 8, 2022. He continues to serve his constituents and work on issues important to his district and the state of Maryland.
