Sara N. Love, Esq. is a Democrat representing District 16, Montgomery County in the Maryland House of Delegates. She has been a member of the House of Delegates since January 9, 2019.

Sara N. Love, Esq. is a Democrat representing District 16, Montgomery County in the Maryland House of Delegates. She has been a member of the House of Delegates since January 9, 2019. She serves on the Environment and Transportation Committee, and she is a part of several subcommittees including the local government & bi-county agencies subcommittee, natural resources, agriculture & open space subcommittee, land use & ethics subcommittee, environment subcommittee, and motor vehicle & transportation subcommittee, which she chairs.

In addition to her legislative duties, Sara serves on the Chesapeake Bay Commission, a tri-state legislative body whose mission is to protect the Bay. She was chosen as the Chair of the Maryland Delegation in 2023. She also serves on the Maryland Advisory Committee to the U. S. Commission on Civil Rights.

Sara Love was born in Evanston, Illinois on April 6, 1967. She attended New Trier High School in Winnetka, Illinois, and later went on to Princeton University where she earned a Bachelor of Arts degree in history in 1989. She then attended Northwestern University School of Law, earning a Juris Doctor in law in 1993.

As a young lawyer, she worked on several important cases focusing on equal justice. She worked on a mortgage discrimination case with another young lawyer – Barack Obama. She also worked on a nationwide case against anti-choice extremists who used force, threats, and violence to shut down women’s health care clinics.

Following her passion for women’s rights, she went to NARAL Pro-Choice America and became their General Counsel and Legal Director where she worked on federal reproductive rights policy and led a staff to support affiliates across the country working on state policy.

Sara has two children, Nikki and Kenny, and one rescue dog. She continues to serve her community in various capacities, including serving on the Bannockburn Nursery School board; serving on the Carderock Springs Elementary School PTA; starting and leading her daughter’s Girl Scout Troop; volunteering at Holton-Arms as a grade representative; serving on the board of the Women’s Campaign Forum, working to elect pro-choice women to all levels of government, regardless of political party; serving on and chaired the board of the ACLU of Maryland; chaired her neighborhood Palisades Citizens Association board; helped a friend with her start-up company, Activity Rocket; and served on the NARAL Pro-Choice America Board and PAC.
