Representative James Hawkins
James K. Hawkins is a member of the Democratic Party and represents the 2nd Bristol District in the Massachusetts House of Representatives. He assumed office on April 10, 2018, and his current term ends on January 1, 2025.
Born and raised in Walpole, Massachusetts, Hawkins has lived in Attleboro for over 35 years. He graduated from Colby College and then went on to earn an MBA from Providence College School of Business. Before entering politics, Hawkins sold auto parts and worked as a math teacher at Attleboro High School.
In his role as a representative, Hawkins has been involved in a variety of legislative activities. He has sponsored bills related to a wide range of issues, including civil service law, cannabis policy, consumer protection, education, environmental protection, financial services, housing, and free speech.
Outside of his political career, Hawkins is a retired high school math teacher. He has a pet named Audrey, a rescue dog. He enjoys participating in triathlons and is dedicated to public service. He is also the founder and director of the Rome Boulevard Road Race, an annual fundraiser for kids, and has been recognized with the Partner in Philanthropy Award.
