Representative John Gaskey

John Gaskey, born on February 9, 1970, in El Paso, Texas, is a dedicated public servant and a proud member of the Massachusetts House of Representatives. Representing the 2nd Plymouth district since 2025, Gaskey has made significant contributions to his community and state. Gaskey’s background is rooted in a strong military tradition. He served in the United States Coast Guard from 1989 to 2012, achieving the rank of Chief Petty Officer. During his time in the Coast Guard, he was stationed on the USCGC Escanaba (WMEC-907), where he participated in various missions, including enforcing federal and international fishing regulations, migrant interdiction patrols, and drug interdiction missions. His service took him from the waters off New England to the Caribbean and through the Panama Canal to the Eastern Pacific.

Gaskey’s family has a long history of military service. His father served in the Navy during the Vietnam War, his grandfather fought in the Pacific Theater during World War II, and his great-grandfather served in World War I. Continuing this legacy, Gaskey’s oldest son currently serves full-time in the National Guard.

In 2024, Gaskey ran for the Massachusetts House of Representatives, representing the 2nd Plymouth district. He won the Republican primary by defeating incumbent Susan Williams Gifford and went on to secure victory in the general election against Sarah Hewins. His election marked the beginning of a new chapter in his life, dedicated to serving the people of Massachusetts.

As a state representative, Gaskey has focused on a range of issues, including public health, safety, and education. He has sponsored and co-sponsored numerous bills aimed at improving the lives of his constituents.
