Kate Hogan was born on January 15, 1957 in Lynn, Massachusetts. She is an American politician from Stow, Massachusetts. A Democrat, she is a member of the Massachusetts House of Representatives representing the 3rd Middlesex district. She was first elected in 2008 and took office on January 7, 2009. The 3rd Middlesex district, which includes the towns of Bolton, Hudson, Maynard and Stow, was represented for 24 years by Patricia Walrath, who decided not to seek re-election in 2008.

Hogan graduated from the University of Massachusetts Amherst in 1979 with a degree in political science. She then went on to earn a master’s degree in public administration from Suffolk University in 1983. Hogan began her political career in 1989 when she was elected to the Lynn City Council. She served on the council until 1995, when she was elected to the Massachusetts House of Representatives. She has been re-elected to the House every two years since then.
