Representative Thomas Moakley

Thomas W. Moakley is a Democratic member of the Massachusetts House of Representatives, representing the Barnstable, Dukes, and Nantucket District. He assumed office on January 1, 2025, after winning the general election on November 5, 2024. Moakley was born in Falmouth, Massachusetts, and has deep roots in the community. He earned a bachelor’s degree from Georgetown University in 2017 and a law degree from Suffolk University Law School in 2021. Before his political career, Moakley worked as a prosecutor and was actively involved in community service. He has been affiliated with organizations such as the Eagle Scouts and the Massachusetts LGBTQ Bar Association.

Moakley’s legislative priorities include addressing coastal and environmental issues, improving access to housing, and promoting public safety. He has sponsored several bills, including those related to dark money in local government, housing within the Manuel F. Correllus State Forest, and restoring commuter rail to Cape Cod.
