Representative Thomas Stanley

Thomas M. Stanley is an American state legislator serving in the Massachusetts House of Representatives. He represents the 9th Middlesex District and is a member of the Democratic Party. Stanley is also an at-large member of the Waltham City Council in Massachusetts. He assumed office in the Massachusetts House of Representatives in 2001 and his current term ends on January 1, 2025. He assumed office in the Waltham City Council in 2018.

Stanley has been active in various legislative matters. He has sponsored bills related to a wide range of issues including the licensing of small appraisal companies, establishing a curriculum to support seniors’ financial literacy, improving quality and oversight of long-term care, creating safe environments for home care workers and consumers, providing basic common sense health services for residents of assisted living residences, promoting innovation in elder care nursing facilities and services, and establishing a special commission relative to a statewide long-term care insurance program. He has also shown interest in environmental issues, sponsoring bills related to the Atlantic striped bass and the status of wild striped bass in the Commonwealth.

Stanley is the son of the late William F. Stanley who served as Mayor of Waltham from 1985 to 1999.
