Representative William Driscoll

William Driscoll Jr. is a member of the Democratic Party and currently serves in the Massachusetts State Senate, representing the Norfolk, Plymouth, and Bristol District. He assumed office on January 1, 2025, and his current term will conclude on January 6, 2027.

Driscoll began his political career in the Massachusetts House of Representatives, where he represented the 7th Norfolk District from 2017 until 2025. During his time in the House, he became a prominent voice on issues of emergency preparedness and public safety, serving as chair of the Joint Committee on Emergency Preparedness and Management. His leadership was particularly visible during the COVID‑19 pandemic, when he helped guide legislative oversight of the Commonwealth’s response and worked to strengthen systems for crisis readiness. He also contributed to legislation on consumer protection, healthcare financing, and public health, building a reputation as a legislator who balanced statewide priorities with the needs of his local constituents.

A native of Milton, Massachusetts, Driscoll earned his bachelor’s degree in communications from Boston College in 2005. Before entering elected office, he worked extensively in disaster response and humanitarian aid, experience that shaped his legislative priorities and informed his approach to public service. His professional background gave him a strong foundation in crisis management and community resilience, which translated into his focus on public health, safety, and emergency coordination once in office.

In the State Senate, Driscoll has taken on several key committee assignments for the 2025–2026 legislative session. He serves as chair of the Joint Committee on Public Health and vice chair of both the Joint Committee on Consumer Protection and Professional Licensure and the Joint Committee on Public Safety and Homeland Security. He also sits on committees overseeing financial services, healthcare financing, bonding and capital expenditures, and intergovernmental affairs. These roles highlight his broad legislative interests and his commitment to strengthening Massachusetts’ infrastructure, healthcare systems, and consumer protections.

Driscoll’s electoral record reflects consistent success. He first won his House seat in 2016, succeeding Walter Timilty, and was re‑elected multiple times with strong margins. In 2024, he transitioned to the State Senate after winning the Democratic primary against Erin Bradley and Kathleen Crogan‑Camara, and later securing a decisive victory in the general election with more than 98 percent of the vote. His predecessor in the Senate was Walter Timilty, while his House seat was succeeded by Richard Wells Jr.
