Representative Ann Bollin
State Representative Ann Bollin, elected in 2019, is currently serving her constituents in the 49th House District, covering portions of Livingston and western Oakland counties. This district includes the cities of Brighton, Walled Lake, Wixom, and a portion of Novi. Additionally, it encompasses Brighton Township, Green Oak Township, and portions of Commerce and Lyon townships.
Committee Engagements
Ann plays a crucial role in shaping legislative decisions as a member of the influential House Appropriations Committee, responsible for handling the state budget. She holds the position of Republican vice chair on the General Government Appropriations subcommittee and is also a member of the Department of Health and Human Services and Corrections subcommittees.
Previous Committee Leadership
In the 2021-22 term, Ann chaired the House Elections and Ethics Committee and concurrently served on the House Appropriations Committee. Within Appropriations, she held the position of vice chair for the general government budget subcommittee and was a member of the Health and Human Services and Joint Capital Outlay subcommittees.
Public Office and Professional Affiliations
Before her tenure in the House, Ann served as the Brighton Township Clerk from 2003-2018, holding the record for the longest-serving clerk. Known for her strong community leadership, she contributed to various organizations, including the Greater Brighton Area Chamber of Commerce Board of Directors, Michigan Townships Association Board of Directors (District 25 Director), Michigan Association of Municipal Clerks Legislative Committee and Council of Election Officials (Township Alternate), and Livingston County Municipal Clerks Association as Treasurer. Ann has also been involved in boards for Council of State Governments, National Conference of State Legislatures, and Livingston County Catholic Charities. In 2018, she earned a place on the Brighton Area Women’s History Roll of Honor.
Educational Background
Ann attended Central Michigan University, where she studied Recreation Therapy. She also participated in the Michigan Political Leadership Program (MPLP) at Harvard University, John F. Kennedy School of Government, as a Taubman Fellow in the Senior Executives in State and Local Government Program.
Personal Life
Ann and her husband, Tim, reside in Brighton Township and are associate members of the St. Vincent de Paul Society at their church. They are proud parents of three adult children.
