Representative David Martin has been a dedicated representative for Genesee County in the Michigan House of Representatives since 2021. Currently, he serves the 68th House District, which encompasses portions of Genesee and Oakland counties. The district includes the cities of Davison, Grand Blanc, the majority of Burton, the Village of Goodrich, Atlas Township, Davison Township, and segments of Genesee and Grand Blanc townships in Genesee County, along with Groveland Township in Oakland County.

Committees

David plays a significant role as the minority vice chair of the House Natural Resources, Environment, Tourism, and Outdoor Recreation Committee. Additionally, he is actively involved in the Economic Development and Small Business Committee, as well as the Military, Veterans, and Homeland Security Committee.

Public Service and Professional Background

A graduate of Davison High School in 1979, David embarked on a 20-year career in the U.S. Air Force, retiring as the weather operations manager at the U.S. Army Aviation Center in Fort Rucker, Ala. Upon returning to Genesee County, he assumed the role of overseeing security for the Pontiac Silverdome, where he directed security during a presidential visit. Subsequently, he served as the Operations Manager for VirSec Protective Services in Troy and later became the veteran services coordinator at Mott Community College.

Before joining the House, David served as a Genesee County Commissioner from 2016 to 2020 and as a member of the Davison City Council from 2009 to 2013. Throughout his public service career, David has consistently advocated for limited government and has been a staunch advocate for the communities he represents.

Personal Life

Residing in Davison with his wife Grace, David is an active member of First Baptist Church. Their family includes four married adult children and an impressive 25 grandchildren.

Engaged in various community roles, David has served as the past commander of the Davison American Legion Post, past master of the Davison Masonic Lodge, Flint Blue Badge volunteer, and currently holds the position of Brigade Command Sergeant Major with the Michigan Volunteer Defense Force.
