Representative Bidal Duran

Representative Bidal Duran is a dedicated public servant and a member of the Minnesota House of Representatives, representing District 2A. He assumed office on January 14, 2025, after winning the general election on November 5, 2024. Duran is a member of the Republican Party and serves as the Assistant Majority Leader.

Born and raised in Bemidji, Minnesota, Duran has deep roots in his community. He pursued higher education at Bemidji State University, where he earned both an associate degree and a bachelor’s degree. He later obtained a master’s degree in criminal justice from Concordia University in St. Paul. His academic background laid the foundation for his career in law enforcement, where he has served with distinction.

Duran’s commitment to public service extends beyond his legislative duties. He served in the U.S. Marine Corps, demonstrating his dedication to his country. His career in law enforcement includes roles as a police officer in Bemidji and a deputy in the Hubbard County Sheriff’s Office. These experiences have provided him with a unique perspective on public safety and community issues.

In the Minnesota House of Representatives, Duran is a member of several key committees, including Judiciary Finance and Civil Law, Public Safety Finance and Policy, Veterans and Military Affairs Division, and Higher Education Finance and Policy. His legislative priorities reflect his commitment to ensuring the safety and well-being of his constituents, as well as supporting veterans and enhancing educational opportunities.

Duran is married to his wife, Rebecca, and together they have three children: Alejandra, Solvera, and Peytra. The Duran family is actively involved in their community, and they share a strong commitment to public service and civic engagement.
