Senator Eric Pratt

Eric R. Pratt, born on January 23, 1964, is a dedicated public servant and a member of the Minnesota Senate. He represents District 55, which covers the southwestern Twin Cities metropolitan area. He is a member of the Republican Party of Minnesota.

Education: Pratt completed his high school education at Prior Lake High School. He then went on to earn a B.A. in Economics from the University of Colorado, Boulder. Furthering his education, he obtained an M.B.A. in Finance from the University of St. Thomas.

Career: Before entering politics, Pratt had a successful career in banking and finance. He has held positions such as Analyst at ITT Consumer Finance and First Bank Systems, Assistant Vice President at FirstPlus Financial, Senior Group Manager at Target Financial Services, and Senior Vice President of Credit Administration at United States Bank.

Political Career: Pratt’s political career began when he was elected to the Minnesota Senate in 2012, winning with 55% of the vote. He was reelected in 2016 with 69% of the vote and again in 2020 with 62% of the vote. During his tenure, he has served as the Assistant Majority Leader and has been a part of various committees.

Community Involvement: Apart from his political career, Pratt has been actively involved in his community. He has served on the Steering Committee of Shakopee NextGen, been a Board of Directors member at St. Gertrude’s Long Term & Rehab, and a Director at Prior Lake-Savage Area Schools. He has also volunteered at events like Dan Patch Days and the Lakefront Music Festival.
