Nicole Mitchell is a distinguished member of the Minnesota State Senate, representing District 47. She is a member of the Democratic Party and assumed office on January 3, 2023. Her current term ends on January 5, 2027.

Born in Fargo, North Dakota, Nicole was raised in and currently resides in Minnesota. She graduated from Woodbury High School and went on to earn a B.A. in speech communications from the University of Minnesota and a J.D. from Georgia State University.

Before her political career, Nicole served in the U.S. Air National Guard where she worked as a weather observer and weather forecaster. As of 2023, she had reached the rank of Lt. Col. She also served in the U.S. Air Force Reserves as a weather officer.

In addition to her military service, Nicole has had a diverse career. She worked as an assignment manager at a TV station in Duluth, as a TV meteorologist in various cities, and for the Weather Channel.

As a senator, Nicole represents Senate District 47 which includes Maplewood and Woodbury. She holds the position of Vice Chair of the State and Local Government and Veterans Committee. She also serves on the Elections Committee, Energy, Utilities, Environment, and Climate Committee, and the Human Services Committee.
