Representative Bubba Carpenter
Lester E. “Bubba” Carpenter, born on September 1, 1970, is a Republican member of the Mississippi House of Representatives, representing the First District of Mississippi (Alcorn and Tishomingo Counties) since 2008. He was born in 1970 and currently resides in Burnsville, Mississippi, U.S.
Carpenter’s journey in politics began in 2008 when he assumed office as a member of the Mississippi House of Representatives. He has been serving the First District of Mississippi, which covers portions of Tishomingo and Alcorn counties, ever since. His current term is set to end on January 4, 2028.
In the Legislature, Carpenter has been active in several committees. In the 2023-2024 period, he served on the House Agriculture Committee, Banking and Financial Services Committee, Management Committee, Military Affairs Committee (as Chair), House Municipalities Committee, Ports, Harbors and Airports Committee, Ways and Means Committee, and House Wildlife, Fisheries and Parks Committee.
Before his political career, Carpenter was a paramedic by profession. He also serves as President of the Burnsville Area Chamber of Commerce, and is a member of the National Association of Emergency Medical Technicians and the Tishomingo County Economic Development Board. He graduated from Burnsville High School in Burnsville, Mississippi, attended Northeast Mississippi Community College in Booneville, Mississippi, and completed paramedic school at Wallace State Community College in Hanceville, Alabama. He is a veteran of the 155th Armored Brigade, Mississippi Army National Guard, with service in Operation Desert Storm in 1991.
Carpenter is a lifelong resident of Burnsville, Mississippi. He is of the Baptist faith, is married, and has one child. His dedication to his role and his commitment to serving the people of Mississippi is evident in his extensive political career. His journey from a paramedic to a member of the Mississippi House of Representatives is a testament to his hard work and dedication.
