Senator Dennis DeBar

Dennis DeBar, Jr. (born October 25, 1971) is an American politician who has served in the Mississippi State Senate from the 43rd district since 2016. He previously served in the Mississippi House of Representatives from the 105th district from 2012 to 2016.

DeBar’s professional experience includes working as an attorney. He served in the United States Air Force and Air Force Reserves. His political career started in the Mississippi House of Representatives, representing District 105 from 2012 to 2016.

In 2016, he assumed office in the Mississippi State Senate, representing District 43. His current term ends on January 4, 2028. He ran for re-election to the Mississippi State Senate to represent District 43 and won in the general election on November 7, 2023.

DeBar has been assigned to several committees during his tenure. These include the Senate Appropriations Committee, Congressional Redistricting Committee, Senate Corrections Committee, Senate Education Committee (which he chaired), Senate Energy Committee, Judiciary Division A Committee, Judiciary Division B Committee, Reapportionment Committee, Public Health and Welfare Committee, Senate Rules Committee, and Veterans and Military Affairs Committee.

He was born on October 25, 1971, and resides in Leakesville, Mississippi. He is a member of the Republican Party.
