Jansen Tosh Owen, born on July 2, 1993, in Hattiesburg, Mississippi, is an American attorney and politician. He currently represents the 106th district in the Mississippi House of Representatives, having assumed office in January 2020.

Early Life and Education: Owen attended Poplarville High School before enrolling at Pearl River Community College, where he earned an associate’s degree. Subsequently, he obtained a bachelor’s degree in political science from the University of Southern Mississippi. His legal journey led him to Tulane University Law School in New Orleans, Louisiana, where he received his Juris Doctor in 2019. During his time at Tulane, Owen served as a managing editor of the Tulane Law Review. He was admitted to The Mississippi Bar in 2019 and now practices law in Poplarville, Mississippi.

Military Service: In 2016, Owen enlisted in the Mississippi Army National Guard and later commissioned as a judge advocate. His commitment to service extends beyond politics and law.

Political Career: Owen’s political journey began when he challenged incumbent Representative John Glen Corley in the 2019 Republican Primary election. In a competitive race, Owen emerged victorious, securing 60.4% of the vote in the runoff election. He was subsequently sworn into office on January 3, 2020. As the youngest currently serving member of the Mississippi Legislature, Owen actively participates in various committees, including Apportionment and Elections, Transportation, Judiciary B, Agriculture, and Youth and Family Affairs.
