Jerry R. Turner

Jerry R. Turner, born on November 16, 1941, is an American Republican politician. He has been serving as a member of the Mississippi House of Representatives from the 18th District since 2004.

Turner’s professional experience includes working as a businessman in supermarkets and agricultural and construction equipment. His business acumen and leadership skills have been instrumental in his political career.

Turner has been affiliated with several organizations including the Community Development Foundation, Chamber of Commerce, Baldwyn Development, and Mississippi Cattleman’s Association. He is also a Pro-Life advocate, demonstrating his commitment to certain social issues.

Over the years, Turner has served on numerous committees. Some of these include the Accountability, Efficiency, Transparency Committee, House Appropriations Committee, Banking and Financial Services Committee, House Insurance Committee, House Medicaid Committee, and Performance Evaluation and Expenditure Review Committee. His diverse committee assignments reflect his broad interests and expertise in various areas of governance.

In the 2023-2024 tenure, Turner was assigned to the following committees: Accountability, Efficiency, Transparency Committee, House Appropriations Committee, Banking and Financial Services Committee (Chair), House Insurance Committee, House Medicaid Committee, and Performance Evaluation and Expenditure Review Committee.

Turner ran for re-election to the Mississippi House of Representatives to represent District 18 and won in the general election on November 7, 2023. His current term ends on January 4, 2028.

On a personal note, Turner is married to the former Mary Ellen Blaylock. They have three children, Jerry, Terry, and Suzanne, and they are of the Church of Christ faith.
