Joseph F. “Jody” Steverson was born on August 21, 1968, in Tupelo, Mississippi. He is a Republican member of the Mississippi House of Representatives, representing the 4th district.

Steverson assumed office in 2012. His current term ends on January 4, 2028. He ran for re-election to the Mississippi House of Representatives to represent District 4 and won in the general election on November 7, 2023.

Before his political career, Steverson worked as the Director of Voice and Data for Ripley Video Cable Company. He is also a member of the Ripley Main Street Association, Tippah County MSU Alumni Association, Tippah County Development Association, and Career Pathway Experience Advisory Committee of the Tippah County Career and Technical Center.

Steverson has been assigned to various committees throughout his tenure. In the 2023-2024 legislative session, he served on the House Insurance Committee, Judiciary B Committee, Judiciary En Banc Committee, Local and Private Legislation Committee, House Municipalities Committee, Transportation Committee, House Universities and Colleges Committee, and was the Vice Chair of the Ways and Means Committee.

On November 5, 2015, Steverson switched his party affiliation from Democratic to Republican. He is married to Lauren Bailey and they reside in Ripley, Mississippi.
