Joey Fillingane

Born as Joseph Edgar Fillingane on January 10, 1973, in Hattiesburg, Mississippi, U.S., Joey Fillingane is an American politician and a member of the Republican Party. He has been serving in the Mississippi State Senate from the 41st district since 2006.

Education

Fillingane earned his Bachelor of Science degree from the University of Southern Mississippi in 1994. He then went on to receive his Juris Doctor degree from the Mississippi College School of Law in 1998.

Professional Experience

After completing his law degree, Fillingane worked as a law clerk for the Mississippi Supreme Court from 1998 to 1999. He then joined the Law Office of William J. Gamble III in 1999 as an attorney. He also served as a lawyer in the Lamar County District Attorney’s Office.

Political Career

Before his tenure in the State Senate, Fillingane served in the Mississippi House of Representatives from the 101st district from 2000 to 2006. He assumed office in the State Senate in 2008 and his current term ends on January 4, 2028. Fillingane ran for re-election to the Mississippi State Senate to represent District 41 and won in the general election on November 7, 2023.
