About Representative Rickey Thompson
Rickey W. Thompson was born on June 30, 1964, in Shannon, Mississippi. He is an American licensed practical nurse and a Democratic politician. He is a current member of the Mississippi House of Representatives, having represented the state’s 16th House district since 2020.
In 2019, he was elected to represent Mississippi’s 16th House District, which includes parts of Lee and Monroe Counties, as a Democrat in the Mississippi House of Representatives, and started serving in 2020. His current term ends on January 4, 2028.
Thompson ran for re-election to the Mississippi House of Representatives to represent District 16. He won in the general election on November 7, 2023. He has been assigned to several committees including the House Agriculture Committee, House Drug Policy Committee, House Energy Committee, Public Health and Human Services Committee, and Workforce Development Committee.
In addition to his political career, Thompson is affiliated with Create Foundation (past member), Minority PUL Alliance, Current: Brotherhood President, and Spring Hill District MS Worker’s Center for Human Rights. He is married to the former Shelia Dianne Ivory and they are of the Baptist faith.
