Rodgrick Glenard Hickman, known as Rod Hickman, is an American politician who is currently serving as a member of the Mississippi State Senate from Mississippi’s 32nd Senate district. He is a member of the Democratic Party.

Born and raised in Mississippi, Hickman’s journey into politics was influenced by his upbringing and the community around him. His parents, educators, and religious upbringing instilled in him a heart of service from a very early age.

Hickman received his Bachelor of Arts from the University of Mississippi and graduated magna cum laude from the University of Mississippi School of Law. Before his political career, he was a law professor at Tougaloo College and the Mississippi University for Women. He also worked as a prosecutor for Noxubee County, Mississippi.

In 2021, Hickman won a special election to replace Sampson Jackson, who retired on June 30, 2021. He assumed office on December 8, 2021. His current term ends on January 4, 2028.

In the 2023 general election, Hickman ran for re-election to the Mississippi State Senate to represent District 32. He won the election on November 7, 2023.

As a senator, Hickman has been assigned to several committees including the Senate Agriculture Committee, Senate Appropriations Committee, Senate Forestry Committee, Interstate and Federal Cooperation Committee, Senate Investigate State Offices Committee, Judiciary, Division B Committee, Senate State Library Committee, and Senate Wildlife, Fisheries and Parks Committee.

Hickman’s career experience includes owning a law firm, working as a law professor at Tougaloo College and Mississippi University for Women, and working as a prosecutor for Noxubee County. His success has been an aggregated effort among his parents, educators, and religious upbringing. Through this community of individuals, a heart of service was instilled in him from a very early age.
