Representative Matthew Overcast

Representative Matthew Overcast is a dedicated public servant and a Republican member of the Missouri House of Representatives, representing District 155. Born in Houston, Missouri, Matthew Overcast spent his formative years in Ozark and Douglas counties, where he completed his primary and secondary education. He pursued higher education at Drury University, earning an Associate degree in Legal Studies and a Bachelor of Science degree in Criminal Justice. His thirst for knowledge and commitment to justice led him to the Mitchell Hamline School of Law, where he obtained his Doctor of Jurisprudence.

Before embarking on his legal and political career, Overcast served in the United States Air Force from 2010 to 2014. During his tenure, he worked as a Tactical Aircraft Journeyman and Dedicated Crew Chief, earning an Air Force Achievement Medal for his exemplary service. His time in the military instilled in him a strong sense of discipline, leadership, and dedication to serving others.

After his military service, Overcast gained valuable experience in the legal field, working as a probation officer and law clerk. In 2024, he established his own private law practice, focusing on business and education law. His professional background also includes executive leadership roles and experience as a small business owner in Missouri, showcasing his entrepreneurial spirit and commitment to economic development.

He is a member of the Council of Parent Attorneys and Advocates (COPAA), the Missouri Bar Association, the Minnesota Bar Association, the American Legion, the National Rifle Association, and the Ava Chamber of Commerce. On a personal note, Representative Overcast resides on his family farm in Ava, Missouri, with his wife Jessica, a dedicated local schoolteacher. Together, they are raising their five children: Lyla, Josephine, Adalynn, William, and Jackson.
